4 Ukulele Skills Workshops on Saturday (must have with VIP or Weekend Player Pass)
Bartt Warburton
Ukulele Bartt Warburton has performed worldwide across Australia, New Zealand, England, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Greece, America, and lots of other places. His romantic and quirky songs, from “Pluck You” to “Do You Know Where I’d Like to Kiss You?” appear on his three studio albums, and in videos that have garnered millions of views. Known for his revved-up renditions of Classical Mozart and Beethoven sonatas, Bartt’s live show is packed with fancy fingers and mirth. As a music educator, Bartt was named “Teacher of the Year” in the 40,000-teacher Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the world. His workshops are acclaimed as being “as much fun as you can have with four strings,” and Bartt devotes much of his time training public school teachers how to play and teach music to their students. He’s been profiled on American television and in newspapers, and the Los Angeles Times calls him a “modern-day master.” Bartt has written three ukulele instructional books, and his full-length instructional courses are available on his website, Bartt.net. Bartt has WAY too much fun when he plays, and he’s excited that you’re joining him for the party!
Bartt Warburton Saturday Workshop Scales AND Strums – BOTH of them!
Scales are not just for reptiles. They’re also for musicians like you! Bartt will teach you how to play the notes of various scales, which is a foundation of playing leads and melodies. He’ll also show you a bunch of splendid strums, like the flamenco fan stroke, the finger roll and the reggae strum. You’ll discover chord progressions like the Ice Cream pattern, the blues pattern in various keys, and a cute little introduction to the I-IV-V Nashville numbering system. If you don’t know what some of this stuff is, you’re in the right place. By the time we’re done, you’ll be rocking it! And as always, bring your sense of humor. This is serious fun!
Chava Wolin is a passionate ukulele teacher and performer based in Astoria, OR, with over 8 years of experience leading lessons and group classes. She’s also been featured on Ukulele Gent’s Weekly Wednesday Jam multiple times, had the honor of headlining Portland’s Rose City Ukulele Day, and Performed with Dani and Perry of Starlight Ukulele during their Portland Farmers Market Series.
