Glen Hirabayashi
Glen was born and raised in Hawai‘i. His first musical instrument was a Martin
soprano ‘ukulele, which his dad bought for him in 1955. A local big band musician on
the island of Kaua‘i taught Glen to play the ‘ukulele in an after-school group class. Glen never sang in public until he joined the West
Point Glee Club, which led to performances including the Ed Sullivan Show, the
Hollywood Bowl, and the opening of the “new” Madison Square Garden with Bob
Hope and Bing Crosby.1994, marked the beginning of The Aloha Boys, an acoustic
Hawaiian music trio. The Aloha Boys have performed for U.S. Presidents and at
Carnegie Hall. Glen andDonna have also hosted many Hawaiian musicians and ‘ukulele players at their home including Herb Ohta, Jr., Bryan Tolentino, Abe Lagrimas, Jr., Andrew Molina, Lil’ Rev,David Kamakahi, and others. Glen has performed and taught workshops at various ukulele festivals enjoys sharing the knowledge he has gained along the way. Playing the ukulele has been a great blessing, bringing him joy and lifelong friendships.
Glens Workshop Saturday I’m teaching the Makaha Sons version of the Hawaiian classic Lahainaluna. I learned it when our daughters performed with The Makaha Sons years ago. Their arrangement has a simple modulation. I will also teach a chord melody to it.

Jims Saturday Workshops:
The Emotional Value of Chords
There is a chord associated with each of the seven notes of a major scale. When played in context, each chord evokes a certain emotional response from the listener. Learning these chordal relationships will open your ears to the chord progressions to millions of songs. This is the first step to learning to play by ear and could change the way you listen to and play music. Knowledge of finger positions for C, dm, em, F, G, am, helpful. This is Jim’s signature workshop.
The Songs of Hank Williams
Take a trip on Alabama’s Lost Highway with the legendary songs of Hank Williams. In just a brief six-year recording career,
Williams charted 12 number one singles and an incredible 55 songs that reached the top ten on the Billboard Country &

SPONSOR INFORMATION
Tampa Bay Ukulele Days (TBUD) is a 3-day celebration of all things ukulele for players and non-players alike. Activities, many free and open to the public, will taking places at venues in and around downtown Dunedin.
This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better as the Tampa Bay Ukulele Society (TBUS) partners with Dunedin businesses to bring entertainment, customers and fun downtown. Previous events have drawn over a thousand attendees and received widespread media attention.
In addition to hosting live music events, sponsors will be featured on posters, social media posts, email marketing and the event website. Plus, you’ll be part of an exciting city-wide event that will include a free concert, ukulele workshops, play-alongs and the wandering ukulele minstrels’ annual "Strum and Stroll" through downtown Dunedin. Even better, you’ll be helping to fund TBUS and its educational projects that benefit schools and libraries throughout Pinellas County.
TBUS is a non-profit 501C charitable organization, and your contribution may be tax-deductible.
So if you’d like to join TBUS in promoting a community that celebrates music, arts & activities expressly designed for families and friends to enjoy together, click the link below and complete the online form. Thank you for your support!
