Glen Hirabayashi
Glen was born and raised in Hawai‘i. His first musical instrument was a Martin
soprano ‘ukulele, which his dad bought for him in 1955. A local big band musician on
the island of Kaua‘i taught Glen to play the ‘ukulele in an after-school group class. Glen never sang in public until he joined the West
Point Glee Club, which led to performances including the Ed Sullivan Show, the
Hollywood Bowl, and the opening of the “new” Madison Square Garden with Bob
Hope and Bing Crosby.1994, marked the beginning of The Aloha Boys, an acoustic
Hawaiian music trio. The Aloha Boys have performed for U.S. Presidents and at
Carnegie Hall. Glen andDonna have also hosted many Hawaiian musicians and ‘ukulele players at their home including Herb Ohta, Jr., Bryan Tolentino, Abe Lagrimas, Jr., Andrew Molina, Lil’ Rev,David Kamakahi, and others. Glen has performed and taught workshops at various ukulele festivals enjoys sharing the knowledge he has gained along the way. Playing the ukulele has been a great blessing, bringing him joy and lifelong friendships.
Glens Workshop Saturday I’m teaching the Makaha Sons version of the Hawaiian classic Lahainaluna. I learned it when our daughters performed with The Makaha Sons years ago. Their arrangement has a simple modulation. I will also teach a chord melody to it.

Greg Gent At 10 years old, Greg’s parents gave him the choice between two things he really wanted: guitar lessons or an aquarium. Guitar lessons required work, so he chose the aquarium. 40 years later, he decided to learn a musical instrument, this time the ukulele. Greg has a passion for music education and is involved with local play-alongs, ukulele festivals and hosts a weekly online play-along with viewers from across the country and world. Greg has a ever-growing Patreon learning platform, is an Ambassador for KLOS brand ukuleles and also represents Mya-Moe brand ukuleles.
Gregs Saturday Workshops:
Offbook Exercises - Putting a Song to Memory. One of the great things about playing ukulele is how easy it is to play a song, with chords & lyrics on your tablet or projected on a screen. Many fear playing without one of those items, but playing “off book” doesn’t have to be scary. This workshop will walk you through some logical steps to help you memorize your favorite songs. And with a bit of practice, you will start playing songs off book.
Barre Chords for Anyone Who Hates Barre Chords! You've heard many times that you need to learn barre chords. You've tinkered with Bb and D7, but well... you're just not really interested. This workshop will show you barre chord tricks, and explain how and why they can really be useful. By the end of this workshop, you will play a song using chord variations (all of which will be barre chords). You will be on your way to truly utilizing these extremely useful chord shapes.

Amber Rozel
Amber Rozel is a versatile and adventurous musician specializing in ukulele, violin, viola, and vocals. Her performances span classical, pop, punk, and beyond. She leads several community ensembles in Pittsburgh and is a regular section musician in regional symphonies. With every performance, she proves that just four strings can unlock infinite musical possibilities. She is a Level 3 graduate of the Jame Hill Ukulele Initiative and a mentor of teachers worldwide. In 2025 she was named a caretaker of the WayFinder, a kingdom-era instrument made by Aaron Keim of Bean Sprout Ukuleles.
Ambers Saturday Workshops
Billy Joel Jam – We’ll run through a set of the Piano Man’s signature songs and dig into the history behind some of them. (“...and then I got divorced...”) We’ll study some iconic rhythms, picking parts, and chord progressions behind the character of his sound.
Harmony at your Fingertips—A Singing Workshop Take your harmony singing skills to the next level as we create an arrangement of some classic tunes using more complex harmony. In this class we’ll take a look at harmonizing Beatles tunes, some classic rock, and a couple of traditional tunes. Using the Singing the Strings/Harmony at Your Fingertips technique, you’ll leave with at least 2 arrangements to play with your friends.
